Maverick is a 2 year old, male, Chocolate Labrador Retriever. His owners were concerned after 4 days of lethargy, vomiting and decreased appetite. Lab work was performed and showed dehydration and low electrolytes, but was otherwise within normal values. Abdominal radiographs were taken and revealed stacking loops of small intestine suggestive of a blockage. Maverick was taken to surgery where a simple enterotomy was performed and a 1.5 inch square rubber piece from one of his toys was recovered from the small intestine. Maverick was recovered in the hospital and returned home two days post-surgery where he is currently recovering.
